CRAFT's Interview with Amy Sedaris

Yesterday, CRAFT blog posted an interview Amy Sedaris, author of I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence. I received this book for Christmas and I read the entire book on my plane ride back home. While many of you may be attracted the to book from a cooking perspective because she has some good recipes, this interview focuses on the crafty side of things. Amy's hysterical in a strange way. I love her stories about her rabbits.

So far I have made three recipes from this book: Tula's Country-Style Greek Salad, Crosscut Stump Stew, and Tiddlywinks Toadstool Pie. Do any of you have this book? Has anyone tried any of her recipes?

Nope: don't have the book. Do you recommend it? Love it? How are the recipes?

Okay, that photo is awesome. Life is short, right?

I have 12 cookbooks under my pillow so I can absorb them as I sleep. Just kidding, but it almost feels that way:).

I do recommend her book, BUT . . .

I think it's for a certain type of person. The first few chapters I was entertained in a weird way and then I was grossed out by some stuff and then I realized it was just her style. There is one page where she has a drawing of a naked lady bent over with a mirror checking herself out. It's funny but . . . next to recipes? Kind of weird.

If this were a movie, I'd say it's for someone who can appreciate dark comedies. Make sense? It's rough around the edges. But that's what makes it totally unique and almost a work of art in itself.

I don't have the book either, but have heard enough talk about it that I may have to check it out!

Thanks so much for posting the link to the Amy Sedaris interview! I first happened upon her while channel surfing past David Latterman late one night. She is absolutely hysterical. I bought the book as soon as it came out. It's definitely a bit overwhelming to read all at once, but there's nothing like it to provide a burst of laughter if you're looking for something to add a little sunshine to your day. I have to admit that I haven't made any recipes, but really want to make The Perfect Party Cake because it is hands down the best photo 'how to'.

I never heard of her until I saw her on the Martha Show promoting her book. I thought she was so funny and took a liking to her right away (not many people give it to Martha LOL). I have the book on hold at the library. I've been waiting a long time so it must be popular.

This book is fantastic :) So far, I have made the blue cheeseball, the lil smoky cheeseball, and the macaroni and cheese. All amazing. Who needs a waistline, anyway?
