Chocolate Banana Bread
I love banana bread so was excited to see a recipe for Chocolate Banana Bread in Tyler's Ultimate cookbook. And I thought it would be a perfect entry for this month's Waiter, There's Something in My . . . Bread hosted by Andrew at Spitoon Extra. I just had to sit around for a week waiting for the bananas to ripen enough to use for the recipe.
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9 by 5-inch loaf pan. Mix together th flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt ina large bowl. IN another bowl, cream the butter until lightened, then beat in the chocolate, eggs, bananas, and vanilla. Stir in the dry ingredients just until combined; do not overbeat.
Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake until a toothpick stuck into the center of the bread comes out almost clean, 50 to 60 minutes. Transfer the pan to a rack and cool for at least 15 minutes before unmolding.

That looks wonderfully dark and tasty!
This looks like it melts in your mouth! I instantly thought how I loved chocolate dipped bananas as a kid...and here it is in bread form! Delightfully sinful.
I was in a banana bread mood this week too. Looks delish!
Oh, yum! This cake looks so rich and moist. You know, Brilynn recently posted on chocolate banana brownies and Kristen posted on banana bread. After seeing yours and theirs, I have a serious hankering for chocolate and bananas!
those pesky bananas can take an AGE to ripen; glad it was worth the wait. Thanks for taking part in Waiter..
This sounds simple and delicious. We've got three very ripe bananas at home right now--I can see their days are numbered.
I just made banana bread last night with my mom's recipe but this looks good! Bananas and chocolate always go well together! I still might throw some nuts in there.
I just did an Amazon cake, could try it next time with bananas. :)
If only I weren't allergic to bananas!
Well, chocolate bread can't be bad.
I never try this version!!! Banana & chocolate bread!! Great recipe---> :)
Oh Rachel - this is killing me! How did it taste!!!!??
BTW, I'm in the Tampa area too - I live in Bradenton.
I don't have any old bananas sitting around - I will need to round some up for this! It looks wonderful!
yummy. looks great. i found a recipe in Southern Cakes for a two-layer banana cake with chocolate icing that i want to try. but i think i have that Tyler Florence book. will have to browse it's pages again.
